Last Day Of Challenegs and Operation Write Home

Hello everybody!  It's the last day of AEDM, PiBoIdMo and NanoWriMo.  I feel a little sad cuz I had fun making all my art and doing what writing I did, but the best part was all the new bloggy friends I made!  If you for some odd reason want to keep up with my activities and you don't follow my blog you can now follow me on Twitter.  I finally figured out how to add the button for that.  I also added a contact me button, but I mainly did that cuz I plan on doing a giveaway very soon and the winner will have to contact me.

So long, farewell Auf Weidersehen, goodbye
I leave and heave
A sigh and say goodbye
Goodbye

Well,  it won't really be a goodbye cuz I'll still visit all of you who I met during the challenges.  As a parting gift I made a couple of downloable images if per chance you use such things.  Remember for personal use only and I would prefer if you were a bloggy friend.
I made them slightly lovey dovey like cuz I'm going to tell you about Operation Write Home and they are looking for Valentine's Day cards.  What's that you ask, well it's an organization I found by way of Stamping With Grandma Lee and they send blank handmade cards to soldiers deployed overseas so they have something nice to write on when they write home.  Check out the site Operation Write  Home site for more info.  Right now they're taking Valentine's Day cards.  The deadline is Jan. 7th and they take general cards at anytime.  All the cardmaking info is on their site.  the back of the cards have to be stamped with Operation Write Home and it tells you exactly how to do that.  So, thus the lovey dovey images which you can use to make some wonderful cards for deserving soldiers overseas.  Sometimes you want to do something nice for others and it seems you don't have the time or resources, well this is a wonderful solution.

Illustration Friday: Savour and Challenge Day 29!

Hello everybody!  I'm back, hope you all had a lovely holiday if ya celebrate it.  Me, I ate way to much and napped a lot, it was pretty good.  This is my entry for Illustration Friday, the theme is savour.  At first I was going to draw something like savouring moments with my children, but then last night my kids and I were watching The Wizard of Oz and then I thought that we should really savour classic movies (don't worry, I still savour every moment with my children).  I personally don't think people/kids these days watch enough classic films.
These are some of my favorites besides The Wizard of Oz:
Harvey
A Little Princess
An American in Paris
Meet Me In St. Louis
White Christmas
Many haven't seen Harvey and I think if you haven't, you should.  It has Jimmy Stewart and a six foot Pookah Bunny, that most people can't see.  A Little Princess is a Shirley Temple movie (the original that is) and I use to love Shirley Temple when I was little, I still do).   An American in Paris is a musical with Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron (who is also in GiGi, another musical I enjoy), who I love cuz she was discovered when she was still a ballerina and I love ballerinas and I love musicals (if you can't tell from my last three titles).  Then there's Meet Me In St, Louis which stars Judy Garland and is also the movie where the classic Christams song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas comes from.  And then the Christams musical of all Christmas musicals, White Christmas.

And it is day 29 of all my challeneges AEDM, PiBoIdMo and NaNoWriMo.  It's almost all over, so if you're doing any of these challenges have a fun last couple of days!

Sunday Sketches

This is my skecthy doodle for Sunday Sketches.  This was inspired by one of my little dudes who has turned three (it's like then and now).  He's officially no longer a baby, sniff, sniff (that's me weeping) even though he'll always be my baby, actually both my boys will always be my babies.  I'm going to be one of those embarrassing mothers I think, giving them kisses in public when they're teenagers and stuff..
This one below is a finished piece that I showed the sketch of the other day.  It's a comic book page if you couldn't guess.  I left out the words, so everybody could be kept in suspense.  It actually took me a long time to complete it, well, at least for me cuz generally I work pretty quickly.
Happy day 21 to my challenege friends!

Day 19 and a Real Sketchy, Sketchy Doodle

Okay, I know this isn't the most exciting post, but I have nothing that's completed or colored to post, so here's a real quick sketchy doodle, it's super sketchy, and it came out pretty light when I scanned it, but right now I'm just laying things out, so yeah and
I prolly won't post tomm., but I should be back on Sunday with something oozing with cuteness
 and happy Day 19 ya'll!

Day 17 and My New Friends

Hello all, today I have some new friends (see above).  They're twins, unfortunately for the boy his sister is a bit  taller than he his, but he is rockin the skinny jeans.  The girl does have one claw like hand, but I'll be fixing that.
I broke through the bunny barrier for the day.  All I've been drawing is bunnies, which I find great enjoyment in doing, but participating in PiBoIdMo and NaNoWriMo has my wheels a turning.  I started writing their tale last night, it's an interesting one.   This is also my art for the day for AEDM.

Self Publishing

Hi everyone, I want to know what all your views on self publishing are.  Some negative connotations do come along with it.  I mentioned it to my one sister and she was like, "Bah."  Then I'm sure there are some positives. So I would like some feedback please! :)
I couldn't wait till tomm. to ask, so this is my second post for the day.

More Getting to Know Me

It's such a blah day today I didn't feel like making anything fancy, so I decided to do another getting to know the blogger.  This post will be for items 11-20.  I'm going to keep this up 10 at a time until I hit 100.  Then you all will know 100 odd, weird and useless facts about me, my life, or just things I saw.  Exuse the very generic illustrations, blah day makes for a blah mood.  Please exuse any grossness.  You don't even have to read this cuz you might be like, "Well, I really don't care" or you just might think this post is stupid which is okay cuz it kinda is.

Eleven:  I once worked as an independent living counselor, where I helped out with the daily routines of people with developmental disorders.  Well, the one night we were supposed to have porkchops for dinner and I told my supervisor that I couldn't cook and she was like, Oh well.  Needless to say the porkchops got severly overcooked which resulted in setting off the smoke alarm which went "FIRE, FIRE," over and over again very loudly with this awful siren.  Since the type of home it was the fire alarm was directly linked to the fire department and I called the main office where I worked and explained and well, luckily a fire truck didn't show up a policeman did and I had to explain to him that it was just porkchops, but the three guys who lived in the home where I was working still ate the porchops and claimed they were delicous, they were so sweet.  The porkchops were like the size of chicken nuggets.

Twelve:  I'm in the 3% of people that can't see in 3D.

Thirteen:  The favorite thing I've ever said to one of my kids is, "Don't stick the meat on your feet."

Fourteen: I once held a steady diet of Pepsi, cheddar cheese Pringles and red Swedish Fish, oh since I've mentioned Pepsi I also wanted to say I use the word pop, soda does not exist in my verbal vocabulary.

Fifteen:  I know what kind of shoes William Devane likes to wear, Johnston & Murphy and Danskos.  Who in the sam heck is William Devane you ask?  He's an actor most famous for his role on Knot's Landing which was like a night time soap opera (my mother loved him), but he's been on lots of different tv shows, I most recently saw him on an espisode of Physch (show on the USA network).

Sixteen: I once had a cat who insited in always pooping in front of this set of booshelves that I had.  Whenever I came home from work there was always a cat turd leaning precariously up against the shelves.

Seventeen: I own a pack of Duran Duran trading cards.  I can't remember where I got them from, but I have no plans of giving them away.  I even took a photo of them for everybody's viewing enjoyment.

Eighteen:  I have a pair of jeans that are to short on me and I wear them anyways.

Nineteen:  I've fallen off a pair of clogs, yes, clogs are a hazard to me, needless to say, I do not wear heels.

Twenty:  I came in fourth in a gymnastics competition, the thing is there were only four people.  I was barely even able to stand on my hands.  I got fourth just cuz they had the ribbon and needed to give it to somebody.

Happy day 16 of any challeneges and if you made it this far into my post, you must be bored and I apologize.

Illustration Friday and Day 15

Okay, after my abysmal failure of a weekend I'm trying to put my mind back on track.  Happy thoughts from here on out, happy thoughts make for a happy mind!  Challenege day 15, halfway through already, wowza!  This is my art for the day and it kinda ties in all three challeneges AEDM, PiBoIdMo and NaNoWriMo (I'm counting the words in the talky bubbles).  The theme for Illustration Friday this week is burning and the only thing that came to mind at first was bad romance novels and burning desires, which are not appropriate for my blog (since it is all cute and happy here), but then I started thinking about marshmallows.  I know I was just talking about happy thoughts, so I apologize for the tragedy that happens in my illustration.
I don't use gradient in my illustrations that often, but I was trying to create a nice warm cozy feeling/look, since they are sitting in front of a fire:)

Challenge Day 14 and Sunday Sketches

Hello all, I'm baaaaaack!  I'm sure your all squealing and jumping for joy, calm down!  I haven't been an active blogger the past several days because of my diagnosed disorder of chronic procrastination, so I had to finish up some stuff for the weekend.  Well, my weekend was an abysmal failure and due to lack of customers wanting to buy anything at the little ol' fair inwhich I partook I had time to draw all the above little sketchy doodles for Sunday Sketches.  Look at all the sketchy doodles I made!  I was bored beyond belief.  These are sketchy doodles in the ultimate form, green pen in a spiral notebook.
In the second sketchy doodle I was at first attempting to draw angel bunnies, but I didn't like the wings, so I ditched them and the last sketchy doodle came about, which I think might make a cute tee-shirt, in my sketchy doodle I even drew somebody wearing it as a tee-shirt.  I'm going to draw it out properly and color it and use it for Creative Tuesday, where the theme is heaven/heavenly.
So, I hope everybody else has had a nice end of the week and weekend and happy Challenege Day 14 to those who are all challenging themselves and stuff like that, ya know, AEDM, PiBoIdMo and NaNoWriMo.

Hieeeee!

Hello all, I'm putting up a post to say really that I'm not posting anything, if that makes sense.  I'll be back Saturday night or Sunday.  Due to my procrastination issues I have to really really work on stuff, so I'll be back to visit everybody's blogs and to comment and such.  Here's an illustration I did a while ago and I'm just reposting it so my post will look prettier.

Day 10 of Challenges and SweetieBotPie

Hello all, welcome to day 10 of challenges.  All I have for today is the little illustration from above.  It's actually a logo I made for my sticker/note card thing I have going on.  I have a craft fair on Saturday where I will be selling these items.  Hopefully somebody will buy something, but if they don't I'll have more to sell online cuz soon I plan to open an Etsy shop.  Today I made a SweetieBotPie Facebook page to try to keep myself motivated to go on to Etsy after my craft fair cuz I have a tendancy to say I'm going to do something and then I never get around to it, so hopefully I will now.  I'm an actual business now according to the government, so I guess I should do some buisness.
Now, my illustrations are usually made with black outlines, but for my stickers I use brown cuz it prints nicer on my printer, thus the brown outlines on my logo.
Last, I want to say thanks to all my new followers/ bloggy friends and to those who have been following.  I like having bloggy friends, it helps keep me motivated.
Oh, and just in case you don't know what my image is, it's a robo-pie and yes, I am an odd person, just  in case you went, "Huh, what kinda odd person thinks that up?"  Well, me.
And why does the robo-pie have a bow?  Cuz, everything is sweeter with a bow.

Creative Tuesday and My 100th Blog Post, Party!

Hello my friends, first I'm going to start by saying this is my entry for Creative Tuesdays over at the Hot Toast and Jam Blog. The theme this Tuesday is Little House,  it's my first time participating, so hello to everybody there, HIEEEEEE!
Okay now, today is a big fancy day at my little old blog, it is my 100th blog post.  Yay, Yay, everybody scream cuz 100th is the word of the day!  My blog started with small little meager beginnings, I remmeber when I had just one follower and then three and then it held at nine for a while, thanks to everybody who has been here since the beginning, which really wasn't all that long ago.  I didn't really start blogging regularly until April/Mayish, before that it was sporadic and usually not the best entries.  At first I started my blog cuz I was planning on having an online graphics shop, like selling digital stamps and stuff and I never got around to it and then after that I just started posting pictures of the story I was working on Doris, You're still a Rude Bird which is still currently homeless, eventually somebody will adopt my story (at least that's what I keep telling myself) and I started doing Illustration Friday on a more regular basisand now I'm actually trying to be more pro-active in my blogging, I like having bloggy friends..  Okay that's the boring history of my blog

Here's an Illustration from my Doris story, see look below.
So, let's party.  Here, munch on some treats, unhealthy and healthy.  I even put up some decorations.

Oh, and if you're reading this at this point all the way down here, which you may not be cuz I can be long winded, but if you are and your not one of my bloggy friend followers, become one so on my 100th  (Yay, word of the day, now scream, if ya want you can scream like Pee Wee Herman) blog post I can get closer to 100 friendy bloggy followers.  It's easy, even if you don't have a blogger account, so take a second and join up, this is a happy place to be!
Here's a coloring page of my Little House illustration, you get a coloring page instead of a goodie bag.
Get super, awesome, cool coloring page here!
Oh, and happy day 9 of challenges!
100th, everybody scream!

Illustration Friday: Afterwards and Day 8 of AEDM,PiBoIdMo, NaNoWriMo

Good Monday morning everybody!  This is my entry for Illustration Friday where the theme is afterwards.  I actually had to really think about this one, at first nothing came to mind and then somehow the little illustration comic like thingy came to me.
It is also day 8 of the challeneges in which I am partaking: AEDM, PiBoIdMo and NanoWriMo.  I call the above illustration/idea The Gold Thieves and it follows the adventures of Frank the Unicorn and Meghan the bear after they steal the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and of course many crazy things ensue cuz you really should just leave the gold there at the end of the rainbow.  I haven't gotten that far with NaNoWriMo, but now I'm really inspired cuz I got a good graphic novel idea, the story I was working on can wait for now.  I have too many ideas in my brain!
Oh, and as a side note, I've said this before, but I can't draw a straight line for nothing, thus my jalopy rectangular boxes.  I coulda made it look neater by using the rectangle tool, but I didn't want to.

AEDM and Sunday Sketches

Hello all and happy Sunday Morning.  Up and ready to go early this morning due to the whole clock setting back thingy.  I did not post anything yesterday, but I did make some art, was just busy with my boys.  Day seven of challenges.  Today I'm also participating in Sunday Sketches (click on the badge at the bottom of my sidebar if you're curious).  I was hestitant to post this picture cuz it is just a simple sketchy doodle, usually I only post full completey colored illustrations, but I let my gaurd down and posted this.  I need to just doodly sketch more often, usually when I sketch it is for an illustration I already have in mind that I plan on fully completing.  I'm glad I made these little girly girls cuz I think I really like Cecile, she might need some sort of adventure to go on.
So, that's about it for today.  Hello to my bloggy friends and hello to any new ones I might meet over at Sunday Sketches.  I'll be back tomm. with a fully colored and completed  illustration.

Challenge Day Five, Getting to Know Melissa aka Missy

Challenge Day five and having fun.  I love meeting all these new people and seeing everybody else's work, good times!  So, Fridays are generally a dull day on my blog cuz I don't get many visitors on Fridays cuz a good deal of my vistors find me through Illustration Friday and on Fridays they take down the weeks stuff and put up a new theme, so everybody's generally working on their new illustration and not posting or visiting a lot, so I figured I'll do something kinda dull on this Friday.
I keep seeing on lot's of people's blogs they do a kinda getting to know the blogger where they answer certain questions, but I didn't totally want to bore whoever is reading this by letting you know my favorite color or favorite food, so I'm just going to share some weird and random things about myself.  I will apologize now if I gross you out.  This is also counting as my art for the day cuz I made a couple quick generic illustrations.
One:
In eighth grade I got new glasses.  I so desperatley wanted red ones, but when we went to the eye doctor's office all they had were these big plastic red ones which were way to big for my face (I was a little on the pip-squeaky side).  This is where I made a mistake and listened to my mother.  She said, "Your face will grow into them."  Hey, guess what, they never did and I had those cursed glasses until the summer before my senior year in high school.  I got called Sally Jesse Raphel on more than one occasion and just in case you don't know who she is, she was a daytime talk show host with large red glasses.
Oh, and by the way, I'm a bunny.
Two:
There was an actual dance off at my wedding.  I'm totally serious!
Three:
This one is kinda boring, I sorry.
The Catcher inthe Rye is my ultimate, number one favorite book ever and if Holden Caufield was an actual person I'd so hang out with him if the oppurtunity ever came up.
Four:
This is where it gets gross.
I've farted in front of a large group of people (they were not related cuz then it would be kinda okay) and on more than one occasion.
Five:
In my twenties I had a if I want to do it I'm going to try it attitude which led to many interesting things inluding number six and seven.  But, this attitude led me to learn how to snowboard and run around a full theater in my underwear cuz I'm a nerd and my friends and I went to a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Music Show.  They all said they were going to do the underwear run, but they all chickened out and just me and one my my friends ran around (he was with me when number seven happened.  Oh, and there was this old skinny guy in a pair of white briefs, kinda scary.  And I do apologize if I've shared too much here, you don't have to come back to my blog if you don't want to.
Six:
For my undergrad degree I went to Columbia College Chicago and cuz of my attitude I had in number five I took ballet as an elective.  That semester this was my course load: Idea Development (yes, it was an actual class), drawing, fiction writing and ballet., seriously, those were my classes. Well, I have so sense of rythym or beat or whatever you call it, so in ballet class as everybody leapt in the air I was landing on the ground.  I was always off and my teacher who was this little blond ballerina who was in The St. Petersburg ballet in her younger days quite often said this about my dancing, "Oh, that is so ugly!"
I looked nowhere close to as lovely as the bunny below.
Seven:
I warn against this one, don't do it!  In my mid twenties I decided to drop into a ramp on a skateboard for the first time.  End result: Not Good!  It ended my skateboarding and snowboarding days.
Eight:
I went and saw the Winter X Games in 2003.
Nine:
Even though I'm 33 I still go by Missy.
Ten:
Last, boring and kinda obvious, but I love cute things.

So, that's it for now.  There's plenty more weird and odd stuff, but I don't want my post to be too long, it's long enough already.

Day Four of Challenegs

Hello all!  Day four, running a little on the behind this morning, it's so not even morning anymore, but I did squeeze out this illustration.  It's my art for the day and also is an idea for PiBoIdMo cuz yesterday they were talking about thinking of picture book ideas from memories and stuff from when youn were younger and my one friends and I had a secret clubhouse in a bush in her front yard.  It was kinda hollowed out, so we were able to hang out inside it, so I call this Our Secret Clubhouse.  I had one other thing in mind when I made this and it's for  a weekly participation blog I've seen some of my bloggy friends participate in.  The blog is called Hot Toast and Jam and thier theme was Little House, but I didn't realize you don't add your link till Tuesday, so I might reuse this or make another illustration.

Day Three of Challenges and a Cute Digi Stamp

I'm starting out challenge day three with giving away free art.  Below is a digital stamp I made and if your not a crafty kinda person you would know it as a line drawing.  I like to share my stuff when I can, so here's a turtle having morning coffee with a cookie, or you could say tea and a biscut.
There's a turtle with and without a bow depending on your preference.
If you do download a turtle it is for personal use only and I would prefer If you were one of my bloggy friends, so if you're not a bloggy friend become one.

Get Bow Turtle HERE!                                                         Get No Bow Turtle HERE!

Do you ask yourself what can I do with a picture of a turtle having coffee, well you can make a card, glue it to a book cover, or any other kind of creative endeavor.  Just click on the link and then save as and so you know if you print one they're actually a pretty good size.
One other thing I have done so far today is make a little display thing for my stickers cuz I don't have any little baskets or anything to put my sticker boxes in for my craft fair nor do I want to buy any, but then I don't want them all sprawled out like the picture below.
Look at all those scattered sticker boxes, what a mess!
This was my solution due to my cheapness.  I made my little display box here out of a graham cracker box, a waffle box and a popsicle stick.  Not the best or fanciest, but I think it will work.  I'm going to make one for each sticker set, this one if for my baby bunny stickers.
I apologize on the quality of these photos.  I lost my actual camera (which was very nice), so I had to take these with my cell phone.

Day Two of Challenges, Miguel the Bunny

This is Miguel.
He is a bunny.
He also is a robot.

Day two of challenges.   Above is my art for the day for AEDM it is also in a way for PiBoIdMo cuz Miguel the Bunny is also a story idea I have been tossing around.  It started with the illustration below that I did a bit ago.
This is Miguel.
He is a buuny.

I also did a little more writing last night for NaNoWriMo.  I'm working on a middle grade novel.  Right now I'm calling it Sharonda, Pete and the rest of the Crowley Family  Nowhere close to where I really should be, but at least it's a step in the right direction.  I've also been working on stuff for a craft fair I have on the 13th, which I've barely made anything for yet, so I have to get my booty in gear!
As a side note I think in the top illustration I have to make his eyes a little smaller like they are in the original illustration, but I'll have to do that later.

Day One of Challenges, Children's Illustration

Louisa spent the weekend in her room because her mom said she couldn't come out until it was clean and until she found the neighboor girl.
This is my entry for Illustration Friday where the theme was spent.
Oh, this is cheesy fun time, in this picture you have to find the neighboor girl (she's not the one sitting on the bed, that's Louisa), a cupcake, a pot (one for cooking/boiling things, just to make that clear), a slice of pizza, a 48 count box of crayons, an old-fashioned dumbell (like one you see in circus posters), two upside down bunnies and a muffin tin, oh and a big ice-cream cone.  Oh, I'm not sure how much the dumbell actually looks like a dumbell and one last item that may or may not be in there; an expolsive firwork type of item.  An explosive in a child's room, you might be outraged, but that's why it may or may not be in there..
Today is the start of all me challenges.  This illustration counts as my art for the Art Every Day Month challenege.  It took me longer than it should, all those darn little toys took time.  It also made me realize it's a good thing I didn't officially sign up for NaNoWriMo cuz all I got in so far for writing is 352 words, hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in a little more.  As far as the PiBoIdMo challenege goes I have my idea written on paper I just have to type it out now, but I did officially sign up for the challenege, so check back tomm. to see what else I got.
